"In times of change learners inherit the earth; while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists."

L Expertians conducted an internship programme in the month of May 2021 and four final year students participated in the same. The programme was a mix of  less theoretical and more practical facets, aimed at enhancing law students' legal knowledge, personal skills and self-confidence. This unique 28 days internship  is designed for law students at all stages of their careers who wish to improve their legal  acumen to become more effective in their roles, both internally and externally.

Most law students have little grounding in the essentials of the law field; yet in today’s changing environment, it is vital they should have the necessary skills if they are to thrive in the future. The long incubation period, when compared to other professions, seems to be an important hurdle in attracting law students to the legal profession the present curriculum offered to law students, in fact creates a huge gap for them in their transformation as a professional lawyer. This internship came up with a mix of   less theoretical and more practical perception, moreover like an LRRA method.

This were the core elements of this internship

The internship aimed at making the students learn different areas of interest and it was more learning oriented. From the initial stage itself the internship program concentrated on the practical sphere of legal field.  A one to two hour sessions were taken each day and the topic discussions covered a wide sphere of topics and acts like Kerala Apartment Ownership Act, Kerala Surveys and Boundaries Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, Transfer of Registry Rules and more. There were also discussions regarding institutional arbitration, International Arbitration Centres, RERA  Authority, Central Administrative Tribunal, virtual visit to the HC website and study of various documents. The interns also got an opportunity to interact with one of the clients regarding a petition which contributed to  enhance the advocacy skills. A slew of methods were adopted to prepare the students to face  and overcome the little hurdles in life and to achieve their best. The skill of logical reasoning started to improve through this journey.

In each session, the interns were made to research and study about different Acts and Amendments as well as different judgements and then they were made to discuss the same. The whole process was intended to mould their knowledge and application in an advocate's perspective. We recognized that research constitutes an important aspect of any internship whether it is a law firm or a court internship. Hence one needs to be well acquainted with various legal research tools. In short this internship program was about learning new things, developing logical reasoning skills and putting their insights into various judgements,  legal provisions, acts and procedures in court.

Internship at Lexpertians is designed to give law students valuable insight into their professional lives. The internship was planned in such a manner to motivate the students to  be in the limelight of this noble profession.
